Who Can Join Here? And Who Can Not?

There have been a few questions about who all can join this alumni network.

Some existing Infosys colleagues asked if they can join. Of course, please sign-up by all means. This is a forum where we want to share experiences and any mutually beneficial opportunities, and if one Infosys alumni can member can benefit another...that's great!

But, professional recruiters can not unless you worked in Infosys. There have been a few LinkedIn invites and sign-ups here from people stating they worked with Infosys, but when we cross checked, it was not true and they were head hunters. Just because we have an alumni network does not mean it's a license to send mails to the network, or turn this into a public job board (there are enough of them already).

In fact, we are very frugal with sending mails to our alumni network; never more than once a month. This blog serves the communication purpose well enough. Just Subcribe to the blog feed.

How to post on this site?

One of the common questions from new members on this group is:
"How do I post an update or query on this site?"
It's straight forward. Please send your post to: connect [at] infosys-alumni.net
And it will be put here within a few hours.
If you want, you can also get author rights on this blog, once you let us know how you plan to use that.
Anything that can help more Infosys alumni get in touch is most welcome!

cheers,
Shankar

What are other members upto?

Going by the industry and companies of the members who have signed up so far, over 30% (ie 1 in 3)have changed the industry itself. We now cover Venture Capital, Pharma & Biotech, Investment Banking, New Media, Energy, Education, Insurance, Telecom etc. 30% are with start-ups or SMBs...guess that was one of the main reasons for leaving Infy. It would be great if we can feature a few alumni each month. We'll do that once we cross 500 members...which is not too far by the way.

Want to Write a Post Here?

If you want to share an update or write a post, please email: infosysalumni[a]gmail.com
You must sign up as a member first, and we will give you write access on this blog.

Alumni Business Promotion

Many of the Infy alumni are either running start-ups or in leading small companies, which could benefit with more visibility.

So we want to feature some of these companies in here on the right side, and we will rotate them monthly. We have a couple of entries already.

Please put a note here if you want to feature yourself or your company. Cheers!

Alumni Updates

Kaveesh Chawla, who spent 8 years at Infy (in SBUx and ES) before going for his MBA at UMich, Ann Arbor, will be taking up a senior product management role at Amazon in Seattle. He is also among the few people who did an Infosys project in South America (Chile). All the best Kaveesh!

Kamal Garg, who was with CENA (yes, that org structure was a long time back) is now NIIT in New York as a senior Engagement Manager. He has continued to build expertise in the Insurance vertical, and has just added another large account. Cheers!

Binu Balachandran, an old alumni of the 'SBU era' will be completing his PhD from Columbia Univ in a month or two. His interest in Finance has just continued to grow from the IIM Lucknow days. He will be joining Lehman Brothers in New York. Great show!

Infosys enters NASDAQ-100 Index

On December 9, 2006 Infosys became the first Indian company to enter the NASDAQ-100 Index. The NASDAQ-100 Index comprises 100 of the largest non-financial stocks on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, and includes Google, Yahoo, Amazon, Oracle, and eBay.

There are few other data points: As we know, in 1999, Infosys was the first Indian company to be listed on NASDAQ. On July 31, 2006, the NASDAQ Opening Bell was rung from the Mysore campus to mark Infosys’ 25th anniversary. It was the first time that the NASDAQ Stock Market was opened by a company in India.

I have found this trend of great value - as an organization, Infosys has made great effort to keep transparency with investors, which has helped over the years create Annual Reports that are being used as examples in B-Schools, and as a reference in younger companies like mine.
